Mary D'Amato

Mary (Cianci) D'Amato, 86, of Southington passed away peacefully on Saturday Oct. 13, 2012 at Ledgecrest Health Care Center in Kensington. She had been the loving wife of the late Alfred J. D'Amato Jr..

Born in New Britain on September 18, 1926 to the late Paul and Jenny (Leonardo) Cianci, she had been a longtime Southington resident.

Mary was a communicant of St. Thomas Church in Southington. She retired from Critikon- J/J after many years of service.

Mary is survived by her son Alfred J. D'Amato III and his wife Susan of Southington; her daughter Paula Cruess of Southington; a son-in-law Francis Cruess, and Paula's significant other of 20 years, Frederick Walker; a sister Lucy Palmieri Nelson; 5 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her daughter Mary Ann Spirito, two brothers and one sister.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday Oct. 17, 2012 at 6 p.m. at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. Calling hours will be held before the service from 5 - 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Oak Hill Cemetery, Southington.
