Mrs. Marion Kathryn Sullivan, widow of Raymond F. Sullivan died Thursday October 6, 2011 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut's Bradley Campus after a brief illness.
Mrs. Sullivan was born in Bridgeport, CT, on August 6, 1915, the daughter of the late Albert E. and Ella C. (Griffin) Blewitt. She was educated in the Waterbury public schools, graduating from Crosby High School in 1933. With their late father, she and her brother, Edmund G. Blewitt, owned and operated Blewitt & Sullivan, a grocery business in Waterbury's East End, for over fifty years. After her retirement, Mrs. Sullivan relocated to the Plantsville section of Southington, where she has lived for the past thirty-six years.
Marion is survived by her daughter, Brenda S. Wooding and her husband Philip, of Southington, and her son, Edmund R. Sullivan and his wife Barbara (Luddy) of Waterbury. She also leaves her brother, Edmund G. Blewitt of Plantsville; two grandsons, Mark S. Wooding of Providence, RI, and Jonathan K. Wooding, of Brighton, MA; a granddaughter, Shannon E. Sullivan of Waterbury, and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a funeral mass on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 10:30am at Saint Aloysius Church, 254 Burritt St., Plantsville, followed by burial in Old Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterbury. Calling hours will be held at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St. (Rte. 10) Plantsville, on Saturday from 9am to 10am before the funeral mass.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marion's memory to St. Aloysius Church, 254 Burritt Street, Plantsville, CT 06479 or a charity of the donor's choice.
