Margaret "Peggy" A. Fabian

Margaret “Peggy” Fabian, formerly of Portland, CT, left this world on February 2nd, 2025, surrounded by family in the quiet comfort of her home.

Peggy, the oldest child of the late Cecelia (Grippo) and Hendrick Ruimerman, formerly of Middletown, CT, is lovingly remembered by her siblings, Doug (Dolores), Frank (Katie), Paul (Dodie), Duffy Rodriguez and Liz Aresti (Bob). She graduated from Middletown High School (1954), followed by Ona M. Wilcox School of Nursing (1957). Working as a nurse at Middlesex Hospital for over 40 years, she touched the lives of countless people through her work.

Peggy married the love of her life, Stephen Joseph Fabian, in 1962. Their life was filled with over 50 years of love, devotion, and unwavering support, until his passing. Together, they raised two children, Donna Ayer (Kylle) and Stephen John (Wiebke). One of her greatest joys was being a grandmother to Maisey (Austin), Ross (Bethany), Stephen Joseph, Grace and great- grandmother to James. She is now reunited with her beloved grandson, Mathew, in heaven. She was a loving aunt to generations of nieces and nephews, and a cherished friend to many. Peggy was active in helping others through both her church and community. She was an avid fan of UConn Women’s basketball and the Red Sox, shopping and cooking. Those who knew her will miss her witty humor and loving presence.

Donations in her honor can be made to Bread for Life, PO Box 925, Southington CT 06489 (southingtonbreadforlife.org/).
