Ludvik P. Repan, 91, of Summit Street, Southington, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on May 9, 2011 at Hartford Hospital, Hartford. He was the loving husband of Anna F. Repan who predeceased him in 2010 after a marriage of 70 years.

He was born in Gbelany, Czechoslovakia on September 14, 1919 to the late Ignace and Karolina Repan. Upon his arrival in the United States, Ludvik lived in Manhattan, New York. During World War II he served in the US Army in France. In 1952, he moved with his family to Southington, CT. His dream had been to work on jet engines which he was able to do at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft of Southington. He retired after 30 years of employment there. Ludvik had an easy going way about him and had many friends. They called him “Louie” and often sought out his expert knowledge in the repair of small engines and cars. They presented him with a sign “Lou’s Tinkershop” which he hung proudly in the work area of his garage.

 He is survived by his four daughters: Caroline Savage, Anna Mongillo, Ellen Plonka, and Margaret DellaBitta and her companion John Dubis; seven grandchildren: Tyler Savage, Kimberly Limbacher and her husband Philip, Dominic Mongillo and his wife Marney, Michael DellaBitta and his wife Kathryn, David DellaBitta and his wife Caitlin, Christine Hoffman and her husband Chris and Richard Plonka. He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Dominic Mongillo. He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held from 9-10 a.m. at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 South Main St., Plantsville on Thursday, (May 12, 2011). A mass of Christian burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Church, 99 Bristol Street, Southington. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, Southington.
