Lisa Melnick, 52, of the Plantsville section of Southington died Friday, March 19, 2010, at the HCC at Bradley Memorial. She was the wife of a loving and devoted husband, Edward Melnick.
Lisa was born in Long Island, New York on January 17, 1958, the daughter of John and Kathleen Bacich of Brookfield. She was a 1976 graduate of Brookfield High School.
She is survived by three daughters: Ali Pearson of Philadelphia, Hillary Jannelle and Shannon Jannelle of Ridgefield; a son, Jordan Pearson of Philadelphia; three sisters: Cathy Bacich, Nancy Bacich and Jaqueline Bacich all of New York City; and a brother, Christopher of New Milford.
Lisa was a talented illustrator and also enjoyed working with pottery and stained glass. She received a degree in social work from Western Connecticut State University in 1999, despite having undergone a disabling traumatic brain injury in 1991. Lisa's irreverent sense of humor will long be remembered by her family and friends, and her spirit will persevere in the efforts of those who seek to better themselves despite their limitations.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday March 23, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. Burial will follow in South End Cemetery, Southington. Calling hours are prior to the service from 10-11 at the funeral home.
