Karen L. Richter, 57, of East Windsor and formerly of Southington, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday, January 25, 2023.
Karen was born in New Britain on September 2, 1965, one of four children, to Deacon Neil and Dianne (Angiletta) Richter.
She graduated from Southington High School, Class of 1983, and went on to attend Keuka College in New York where she studied social work. Karen worked with developmentally disabled individuals and enjoyed her work very much. She was kind, caring and patient and in her youth, quite competitive in sports. Karen will be remembered as being a loving mother, daughter, sister and friend.
In addition to her parents, Karen is survived by her children, Shane Olender and Molly Olender, both of Meriden, her sister, Lynne Yuhas and husband Joe of PA, her brother, Michael Richter and wife Pollyanna of GA, her companion, Bill Burke of E. Windsor and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Paul J. Richter.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Karen’s memory may be made to the Office of Radio & Television (ORTV), 15 Peach Orchard Rd., Prospect, CT 06712-1052.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at the Immaculate Conception Church, 130 Summer St., Southington. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, Southington. There are no calling hours. Plantsville Funeral Home has been entrusted with handling the arrangements.
