June L. Meeker

June Louise (McLean) Meeker, 92, of Southington, passed away peacefully on Sunday February 1, 2015 at The Curtis Home in Meriden. She had been the wife of the late George W. Meeker who predeceased her in 1967.

June was born on June 11, 1922 in New Haven to the late Walter and Louise (Kromer) McLean.

Mrs. Meeker attended the Hamden school system and graduated from Hamden High School in 1941. She went on to continue her education at Grace Hospital School of Nursing in New Haven and graduated in October of 1944 as a Registered Nurse. June proudly served her country in the U.S. Navy during World War II at the Chelsea Naval Hospital in Massachusetts. She was a longtime member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Meriden. Since 2003, June has resided at The Orchards in Southington where she contributed many hours as a volunteer wherever she was needed.

June is survived by two sisters; Doris LaRese of Plantsville and Barbara Munzu and her husband Eugene of South Meriden and one brother, Walter McLean and his wife Karen of East Harwich, MA. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by five sisters: Ruth, Irene, Mae, Mary and Jean.

In lieu of flowers, donations in June's memory may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
