Joseph F. Kuziak

Joseph F. Kuziak, 95, of the Plantsville section of Southington, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, December 23, 2024. He was the loving husband of the late Evelyn (Burneika) Kuziak who predeceased him in 1995. 

Joseph was born on January 21, 1929 in Hartford, CT to the late Frank and Zofia (Sierco) Kuziak. He graduated from Hartford High School and went on to proudly serve his country in the U.S Air Force. 

Joe worked at Pratt and Whitney as an engineer, retiring after many years of service. He was a longtime faithful parishioner at St. Aloysius Church in Plantsville. In his younger years, he was very active in scouting and the Southington Midget Football League. He also enjoyed square dancing, fishing, gardening and rooting for the Men’s and Women’s UCONN basketball teams. Joe’s family was most important to him. He looked forward to family vacations in New Hampshire and loved spending time with his grandchildren and cherished great-grandchildren. 

Joe is survived by five children, Joseph F. Kuziak Jr. and his wife Lynn of Southington, Evelyn Fox and her husband David of Sandusky, OH, Charlene Walsh of Terryville, Jennifer Ritz and her husband Robert Ritz of Simsbury and Paul Kuziak and his wife Soli of Plantsville, 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. 

In addition to his wife Evelyn, Joe was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters, one son-in-law, George Walsh and his longtime companion, Dorothy “Dotti” Hart.

 A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 27, 2024 at St. Aloysius Church, 254 Burritt St., Plantsville. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Bristol. Calling hours will be held before the Mass from 9 – 10:30 a.m. at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville.
