John N. Schlander

John N. Schlander, 63, of Cheshire and formerly of Southington, passed away after a long illness on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Hartford Hospital.

John was born on November 19, 1957 in Waterbury to the late Herbert and Louise (DeCola) Schlander.

John worked as union carpenter at Downs Construction for 20 years. He was passionate about good food and company. He loved vacationing in Maine and FL and enjoyed gardening and working on projects around his home.

John is survived by his wife Robin (Salvatore) Schlander of Cheshire; sister, Mary Niezgorski of Southington; brother, Chip Schlander of Jefferson, Maine; sister, Betsy Walesky and her husband Don of Cheshire; brother-in-law, Jim Salvatore and Barbara Pajak of Middletown; his close friend, David Barry of Cheshire and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 300 5th Avenue, Suite 6 Waltham, MA 02451.
