John B. Walton, 62, of Southington, CT, passed away with his family by his side, on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at the Hospital of St. Raphael, just 6 days shy of his 63rd birthday. He was the loving husband of Nadine L. (Glass) Walton for 35 years.
John was born on December 9, 1961 in Southington, CT, only son to the late Gerald and Mary “Libby” (Abata) Walton.
John graduated from Southington High School, Class of 1979 and went to work in shipping and receiving and tech support at Locknetics and then Honeywell.
John loved sports and was a huge NY Yankee and NY Giants fan. He also loved NASCAR and was a big supporter of Tony Stewart. He liked to travel with his wife Nadine; going on many cruises over the years and sharing an amazing trip to Hawaii. He also looked forward to the annual summer vacation to Hampton Beach for over 30 years with family and close friends. John had great pride in attending his grandchildren’s events, watching Cierra ride horses and arriving to her competitions before sunrise, cheering Cheyenne on as her biggest fan at her softball games and watching Conner’s t-ball games and supporting his musical talents in the marching band for the last 2 years.
John was also a dedicated member of AA for 16 years. He had much love and appreciation for the many friends and supporters who were part of his journey, especially from his Thursday night meeting.
In addition to his wife Nadine and their beloved pup Bear, John is survived by his three special grandchildren, Cierra Walton and Tyler Tucci of Granby, Cheyenne Waller and Conner Waller, both of Southington and his only daughter, Erica Waller of Wallingford. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Brian Glass and wife Tracy of Buckeye, AZ, two nephews, Craig Glass and wife Abby and their children, Evan and Ella, of Brewer, ME and Colin Glass and wife Lyla and their son, Teddy of S. Portland, ME and niece, Michele Johnson of Buckeye, AZ, and many cousins. He also leaves behind a great support team between family and friends, especially Kate and her extended family. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Ethel Glass and his faithful companion, Captain a.k.a. Cujo.
John’s family would like to thank the amazing team at the Hospital of St. Raphael for the utmost care and dignity they provided to him for his last 18 days. Also, Nadine is very grateful for the support from her amazing family, friends and wonderful work family from NBT.
