Joan K. Strachel

Joan K. Strachel, 89, of Southington, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday January 26, 2014 at Apple Rehab in Plainville. She had been the loving wife of the late Edward Strachel for 37 years.

Joan was born on September 8, 1924 in Brownsville, PA. At age 17, she ventured to Philadelphia, PA where she lived for over 20 years. After moving to Southington and raising her family, she loved working at her part-time bookkeeping position until the tender age of 85. She always felt you needed to keep the mind and the body moving to stay well. She'll be remembered most for her kindness and generosity to all.

Joan is survived by her daughter Lisa Roberge and her husband Douglas of Southington, her son Robert Teele of Southington; her 6 grandchildren: Elisabeth and Halie Roberge, Samantha Oliphant and her husband Jonathan, James Teele, Jr and his wife Kimberly, Scott and Sabrina Teele; 5 great-grandchildren: Meghan, Justin, Ryan, Olivia and Chloe and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son James Teele.

A funeral service will held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday January 30, 2014 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville.
