Janis M. Anderson

August 11, 1948 — January 22, 2020

Janis M. Anderson

Janis (Mace) Anderson, 71, of Berlin, CT went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, Jan 22, 2020.

Janis’ devotion to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ sustained her through an arduous journey with a terminal disease. Her love for others served as a comfort and example to those around her, especially in recent years as her physical health declined. After her love of family she enjoyed reading and will be warmly remembered as a mother who read to children.  She enjoyed travel and cherished her trips to Sweden and Scotland.  She was a long time member of Clan Donald USA.  Jan found pleasure in needlework (prizewinning) and gardening. Church attendance and service to the church (prayer group, choir, etc.) were a labor of love for Janis.  She was a member of First Church of Christ in Wethersfield and Berlin Congregational Church.

Janis was born in Hartford on Aug 11, 1948.  She was the daughter of Elena V. Mace and the late Donald C. Mace of Bristol. In addition to Elena, Janis leaves her husband Lans and son Eric L. Anderson of Berlin; brothers Mark Mace of Colorado; Douglas C. Mace of Florida; Jonathan (Debra) Mace of Bristol and her sister, Donne (Craig) Shepperly of Pennsylvania also among other family and friends that loved and will miss her are her two nephews, Ian and Cameron Mace of Bristol and her niece Lara C. Anderson of Hamden.

Jan graduated from Bristol Eastern High School in 1966 and Morse Business College in 1968.  She worked for Hartford Radiology for several years while attending CCSU earning a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in 1979. After her marriage to Lans and the birth of their son Jan would eventually join the staff at McCue Mortgage in New Britain retiring in 2014.

The family wishes to thank caregiver Latoya Richard for the compassion, kindness and the love she showed to Jan in her final months with us.
