Janice Marion (Goewey) Beebe passed away peacefully on Saturday April 23, 2011 at Masonic Healthcare Center in Wallingford. Born on April 27, 1932 in Jonesboro, ME, she was the daughter of the late George Goewey and Ida Belle Fish Sawyer. She was the stepdaughter of the late Fred I. Sawyer.
Janice was a 1950 graduate of Cherryfield Academy in Cherryfield, ME. She lived in Meriden since 1957. She worked for New Departure and The Bradley Home. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Meriden where she enjoyed singing in the choir.
Janice enjoyed family summer vacations to Maine, especially Maine lobsters, playing cards with friends, watching her soap operas and doing crossword puzzles.
A loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she is survived by her daughter Luanne Gaj and her husband Richard of Meriden, her son George Beebe of Cheshire, her daughter-in-law Cynthia Cronkite of Meriden; her grandchildren: Samantha Girourd and her husband Leon, Stephen Beebe and his wife Jamie, Jeremy Gaj and his wife Marie, Erica Wolf and her husband Joshua and Jessica Gaj and her great-grandchildren: Cristian and Marissa Nieves and Brooke Beebe. Janice was happily awaiting the birth of her fourth great-grandchild, a girl, who is due in May and many cousins; including two special cousins Jerry Sawyer and Paul Marston. She is predeceased by her grandson Jonathan Gaj. Her family is grateful to the wonderful caring staff on Ramage 3 at Masonic Healthcare Center.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday April 28, 2011 at 10am at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. Burial will follow in South End Cemetery, Southington. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 9-10am at the funeral home. In honor of her great- grandson Cristian, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to www.AutismSpeaks.org.
