Janet D. Meyer

Janet (Dolan) Meyer, 76, of Waterbury and formerly Watertown, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2017.  She was the wife of Melvyn C. Meyer, with whom she shared 52 years of marriage.

Born in Catskill, New York on September 27, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Joseph R. and Thelma (Finch) Dolan.  Raised in upstate New York, she was a graduate of SUNY, Plattsburgh, and went on to teach elementary school in New York State and the Middlebury School System for 10 years.  She was also a founding member of the Watertown Junior Women's Club.

She retired from the State of Connecticut in 2006, where she worked for 18 years in job services. She will be remembered for her kindness, caring heart, great cooking and her gardens.

In addition to her husband, Melvyn, she leaves two children, Christopher and Beth, five grandchildren Heather, Jace, Hayden, Brooke and Grace. She was predeceased by her sister Joan. She also leaves three nieces Pam, Cilla and Penny that she loved dearly.

A service in her memory will be held on Saturday, March 18 at 11 am at St. John the Evangelist Church, 574 Main St., Watertown, CT.
