James “Jimmy” A. Meola III, 64, of Southington, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at MidState Medical Center. He was the loving partner of the late Alfred P. Laderoute for 40 years.
James was born on August 5, 1958 in Southington to the late James Jr. and Jean (Nardi) Meola. He graduated from Southington High School and worked as a flooring salesperson for many years. Jimmy retired from Stop and Shop where he worked in the deli department. He loved music, especially Janis Joplin, Linda Ronstadt and Stevie Nicks. He enjoyed cooking, entertaining and watching old Western movies. He was a longtime member of the Scarpa Shoda Gang. Above all else, Jimmy was a loving father and grandfather. He loved his entire family with all his heart.
He is survived by 2 children; son, Christian Meola (Jennifer) of Plantsville and daughter, Nicole Meola (Jeff) of Wolcott, grandchildren; Madeline, Kaonna, Kory, Kameron, Ava, Christian and Nova; his brothers, Steven Meola (Teri) of FL, Glenn Meola and Greg Meola, both of Southington and his aunt Beatrice Sakellarios and her husband George of Avon. He is also survived by seven sisters-in-law, Mary Ellen Cox (Steven), Rita Casarella, Patricia Conlan (Kevin), all of Southington, Linda Tentoni of Kensington, Michele Pekoske (James) of Florida, Susanne Laderoute and Renee Sego (David), both of Plantsville; four brothers-in-law, Charles Laderoute (Diane) of Florida, John Laderoute and Mark Laderoute (Desiree), both of Southington, and Marshall Laderoute of Meriden and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his partner Al, Jimmy was predeceased by his sister, Sharon Meola.

Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, May 22, 2023 from the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville with a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Dominic’s Church, 1050 Flanders Rd., Southington. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, Southington.
