James F. Hennessey,71, of Little River, South Carolina and formerly of Southington, Connecticut, passed away suddenly after a brief illness on Thursday, March 9, 2023.
James was born in Lynn, Massachusetts on March 20, 1951 to the late John and Margaret (Keir) Hennessey.
Jim graduated from Rockville High School in Vernon, Connecticut, where he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2016. He went on to attend West Virginia Wesleyan and was a member of the Kappa Alpha fraternity. He was a member of the track team and added power to the field events with his winning shotputs and was also a member of the football team. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. After college, he went on to work at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. He left to join A-Tech/ Rolled Alloys. He retired from Rolled Alloys after 30 years. Jim was an avid golfer and a longtime member of the Southington Country Club and later relocated to South Carolina to enjoy his retirement.
Jim is survived by two children, daughter, Kathleen Hennessey and son, Matthew Hennessey, and three grandchildren: Brody, Quinlynn and Ashton. He also leaves his fiancé, Sharon Wilcox of South Carolina, one sister, Joan Irwin and her husband Todd of Georgia, Vermont and many nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by his wife of 35 years, Elizabeth (Chubet) Hennessey.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. Burial will follow in South End Cemetery, Southington.
