Irene (Zawisza) Simcik

Irene (Zawisza) Simcik, 91, of Southington, passed away peacefully on Thursday April 25, 2013 at the Summit of Plantsville. She was the loving wife of the late Steve S. Simcik.

Born in New Haven on March 4, 1922, to the late Walter and Mary (Wyka) Zawisza, she had been a longtime Southington resident.

Irene was a longtime member of the Immaculate Conception Church.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews: Bernard Zawisza and his wife Jerrene of Southington, Emily Indomenico of Southington, Irene Green and her husband Robert of Terryville, John Zawisza of Florida, Bernadette Secondo and her husband Dick of North Carolina, Theresa Wicker of North Carolina and Molly Zawisza of Southington. She also leaves behind two sister-in-laws, Angela Zawisza of Southington and Helen Zawisza of North Carolina and several great-nieces and great -nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Chester Sr., Arcadia, Bernard, Eugene and her infant brother, Walter; her nephew Chester Zawisza Jr. and her niece Barbara Zawisza.

Funeral services will be held on Monday April 29, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. from the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, 130 Summer St., Southington. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Southington. Calling hours will be held from 3 - 5 p.m. on Sunday April 28, 2013 at the Plantsville Funeral Home.
