Inez Gladys (Root) Samsel, 89, of Cheshire, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017.
Inez was born on Nov. 8, 1927 in Waterbury, CT to the late Lewis and Hazel (Barker) Root. She was the loving wife of the late Joseph Samsel for 56 years. Together they were blessed with 4 children. She is survived by her daughters: Susan Jason of Terryville; Cheryl Samsel and her husband Michael West of Flagstaff, AZ; Sandy Samsel of Cheshire and Cathy Wilson of Kensington. She was employed by Elim Park for 38 years where she cared tirelessly for her patients as a CNA.
Inez loved spending her summers in Vermont on Lake Carmi, enjoying picnics with her family, schooling everyone in her favorite card game, 31, and spending time spoiling her many Boston Terriers. She was a kind and loving mother and grandmother, and made everyone around her feel special. She took great joy in all of life's events and was always on the sidelines or in the audience cheering on her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren
In addition to her daughters, Inez is survived by seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren: Michael Jason, wife Sankari Ramanathan and their daughter Priyanka of Singapore; Cheryl Pinkham, husband Tom and their children Caytlin and TJ of Mooresville NC; Matthew Jason, wife Nicole and their children Sydney and Alex of Wolcott, CT; Jessica Wilson and husband Andrew Karlowicz of West Hartford, CT; Rachel Wilson of Kensington, CT; Caden Samsel-West of Flagstaff, AZ and Ashley Rogers, husband Ryan and their daughter Mackenzie of Southington, CT. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Shirley Broe, Marjorie Parker, Eunice Warner and Charles Root.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday , Nov. 9, 2017 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St. Plantsville. Burial will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Southington. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. at the Plantsville Funeral Home.
