Helen Swol

Helen (Kania) Swol, 91, died Thursday October 21, 2010 at Apple Rehab Farmington Valley in Plainville. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Swol.

Born on March 25, 1919 in Plantsville to the late Steven and Mary (Turek) Kania, she had been a resident of Plantsville all her life. Helen was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Church. She was the former owner of Frank's Grocery Store on Marion Avenue for many years with her husband.

Helen is survived by 1 daughter, Patricia Norton of Plantsville, 3 grandchildren; Michael Norton and his wife Heather of Hamden, Lynn Slodzinski and her companion John Marino of Plantsville and Deborah Hungerford and her husband Scott of Plantsville; 2 great-grandchildren; Liz and Laura Hungerford and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind 2 sisters; Kathryn Bakula of Southington and Esther Derynioski of Plantsville. She was predeceased by her daughter, Lorraine Swol and her son-in-law Frank Norton.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday October 25, 2010 at 9:00am from the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am at Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday October 24, 2010 from 5-7pm at the funeral home.
