Helen "Monica" Carroll

Helen “Monica” (Arszyla) Carroll died on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2020 at Sheridan Woods in Bristol.

She was born on August 21,1924 in Southington, CT to the late Francis and Albina (Kraszewski) Arszyla. She was the wife of the late Ronald Francis Carroll. Monica is survived by her son Edward Carroll and his wife Beth of Pennsylvania, nieces: Donna Boga, Joan Lavorgna, Mary Ann Prange; nephews: Kaszmer Arszyla and Jeff Boga; grandnieces, grandnephews; great grandnieces and Ronald’s nieces, nephews and family and many friends in Connecticut and California.

She was pre-deceased by her sisters: Mary Arszyla, Martha Boga & Elizabeth Homnack and her brothers, Dominic Arszyla & Kaszmer Arszyla and nephew, John Homnack.

Monica graduated from New Britain General Hospital in 1948. She worked in the Newington VA Hospital where she met Ron. They married and traveled with his Allstate Law position around the US and Canada together; and then with Ed when he was born and growing up. She loved being a nurse. In California, she obtained her California RN License and continued with private duty cases. She loved growing up on a farm and loved barns and cows. She also loved her gardens, fruit trees and plants and called herself the “little farmerette.”

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated privately at the Immaculate Conception Church, 130 Summer St., Plantsville. Private burial will follow at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Southington. Another memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date at the Immaculate Conception Church in Southington and the Sacred Heart Parish in Saratoga, CA.

We wish a special thanks to the staff at Mulberry Gardens, THOCC, Sheridan Woods and Athena Hospice for all the care they gave to Monica and support they gave to her family.
