Helen V. (Garstka) Carlson, 89, of Plantsville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 2, 2015 at Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain. She had been the loving wife of the late Fred Carlson for 49 years.

Born in Meriden on July 27, 1925 to the late Joseph and Victoria (Pietro) Garstka, she had been a resident of Plantsville for over 57 years.

Helen leaves behind her son Richard Carlson and his wife Carol of East Berlin, PA and a daughter Linda Accarpio and her husband Dominick of Southington and three grandsons, Ryan Carlson and his wife Jenny, Tye Accarpio and Chad Accarpio, one great-granddaughter, Kahlan Carlson and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her three brothers, Stan, Walt and Frank Garstka.

Helen's family would like to thank the entire staff in the C5, Hospice Care, and ICU at the Hospital of Central Connecticut at New Britain for their compassion and excellent care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at Mary Our Queen Church, 248 Savage St., Southington. Burial will follow in South End Cemetery, Southington. Calling hours will be held before the Mass from 9 - 10 a.m. at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville.
