Gordon C. Parmelee, 73, of Southington, passed away at his home on Monday, October 20, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. He had been the loving husband of Dawn (Krom) Parmelee for 49 years.

Born May 23, 1941 in New Haven, CT to the late Louis and Florence (Brown) Parmelee, he had been a longtime Southington resident.

Gordon worked at Timex for 18 years and retired from the Department of Defense after 23 years of service. He was active in the bocce club at Spring Lake Village, loved sports and boating at the shore. He will be remembered for his outgoing personality and willingness to always help others.

In addition to his wife Dawn, he is survived by his 3 children: Scott Parmelee and Lori Warren of Wallingford, Michelle Kane and her husband John of Plantsville and David Parmelee and his wife Jennifer of Wallingford; 9 grandchildren: Justin and Tyler Parmelee; Daniel and Ashley Kane; Lauren, Connor and Kayla Parmelee and Ashlee and Hailey Warren; his sister Joan Caroti and her husband Bob of Orange and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Gordon's memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Rd #300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Southington.
