Gladys B. (Roy) Dufour, 82, of Bristol and formerly of Southington, entered into eternal peace on Thursday, June 6, 2024, with her children by her side.
Gladys was born on December 17, 1941, in Fort Kent, Maine, the youngest of 8 children, to the late Willie and Rose (Thibeault) Roy. Gladys grew up in Fort Kent and migrated to Connecticut as a young woman, where she later married and was a wonderful mother to three children, Gary, Kevin, and Janice. We have countless wonderful childhood memories of traveling, camping, and beach trips all over New England.
Gladys loved playing Setback, where her partners quickly learned that she could be fiercely competitive. She also enjoyed playing Dominos and games of all sorts.
She is survived by her son Gary Dufour and wife Sheryl of Sterling, VA and daughter Janice Lozano of Bristol, five grandchildren: Aaron Dufour and wife Kate of Brooklyn, NY, Sara Dufour and husband Karl Schwinghamer of Minneapolis, MN, Michael Lozano and wife Leonor of Fort Riley, KS, Mark Lozano of Wolcott and Bradley Dufour of Arlington, VA, one cherished great-granddaughter, Mariana Lozano, her former husband Gilman Dufour, and many nieces and nephews. Gladys was predeceased by her son Kevin in 1993. Gladys was also predeceased by her 7 siblings, Doris Pinette, Clarence Roy, Richard Roy, Rena Madore, Juliette Roy, Joel Roy and Jacqueline Roy.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Gladys’ memory may be made to the American Lung Association (https://www.lung.org/).
A graveside service will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at St. Thomas Cemetery, Meriden Ave., Southington. Plantsville Funeral Home has been entrusted with handling the arrangements. For online condolences and directions, please visit www.plantsvillefuneralhome.com.
