Gerald Dorner, 54, longtime Southington resident, passed away unexpectedly on Monday January 10, 2011. He was the loving father of his daughter, Elizabeth 'Bess' Dorner of California.
Gerry was born on July 23, 1956 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Paul and Cecilia (Sopko) Dorner.
He graduated from Southington High School in 1974 and was a Central Connecticut State University grad, Class of 79'. He worked as an estimator for Sullivan Plumbing and Heating for many years and was an avid Cleveland Browns and Indians fan, as well as a huge supporter of the UCONN Huskies.
In addition to his daughter Bess, he is survived by 1 brother and 3 sisters: Paul Dorner and his wife Lena of Bristol, Joan Radous and her husband Albert of Texas, Cecilia Greer and her husband Richard of Maryland, and Sharon Shea and her husband Michael of Terryville; his former wife, Lynn Musshorn Dorner of California, and many nieces and nephews and many great nieces and great nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Robert Dorner.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday January 15, 2011 from 11am-1pm at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville, with a funeral service at 1:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will be held in St. Thomas Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Gerry's memory may be made to the UConn NICU c/o UConn Health Center NICU, 263 Farmington Ave. Farmington, CT 06030-2948.
