George M. Touma, 90, of Southington passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Monday December 9, 2013 at HCC in New Britain.
Born January 6, 1923 in Danbury to the late Assied and Lillian (NeJaime) Touma, he grew up in Greenwich, CT and had been a longtime Southington resident.
George defended our freedom in the U.S. Navy during WWII, earning many medals. He then founded GMT Mfg. Co. Inc. in Plantsville in 1947. He was a longtime member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Southington, and a lifetime member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, the Freemasons, the American Legion, and Shriners International. He was an avid deep-sea fisherman for 50 years.
George is survived by four children: Gay Touma of Willimantic; George Touma Jr. of Plantsville; Guy Touma and his wife Kristen of Southington and Gerrilyn LeClair and her husband Mark of Winchester; 4 grandchildren who brought him great joy: Matthew, Nicholas, Nathan, and Kayleigh Touma, his sister Genevieve Haddad; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and many loving caregivers. He was predeceased by his wife Nedda (Haddad) Touma, sister Elizabeth Santaus and brother Philip Touma.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday December 14, 2013 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 145 Main St., Southington. Burial with full military honors will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Southington. Calling hours will be held from 4 - 7 p.m. on Friday December 13, 2013 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S.
