Gail Castiola

Gail (Edele) Castiola, 81, of Southington, CT, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 10, 2025, at the HOCC of New Britain. She was the loving wife of Frank J. Castiola for over 58 years. 

Gail was born in New Britain, CT on April 14, 1944, to the late Frederick William and Myrtle (Blois) Edele.

Gail lived a full, vigorous and independent life up until her final days. She served the community by working at the Southington Housing Authority for over 25 years and volunteering at Southington Community Services. She was an avid golfer and played regularly with her friends at the Southington Country Club. Gail truly enjoyed her work, friends, and playing golf, but being a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother and wonderful sister and aunt was most important to her. She loved picnics by the pool with her family, days at the beach and trips to Vermont. The memories made during her family trip to Vermont in October will be cherished always. 

In addition to her husband Frank, Gail is survived by two children, daughter, Michele Castiola and husband Ken Krenke of Southington and son, Michael Castiola and wife Danielle of Plantsville and 5 cherished grandchildren: Joshua Castiola-Krenke and fiancé Katie O’Shana, Chase and Madeline Castiola-Krenke, all of Southington and Isabella and Michael Castiola, both of Plantsville. She is also survived by her sisters, most dearly Joan Butler of Avon and Carol Sheffs of Southington, as well as two special nephews, William Wiggins (Beth) of Arlington, VA, and Daryl Butler (Betty) of Avon and several very special great-nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Frederick Sheffs.

A memorial service will be celebrated at 4 p.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. Burial will be held privately at a later date.
