Frank W. Shimko, 63, of Southington, CT, passed away at his home on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, after a courageous 4-year battle with prostate cancer. He was the best friend and loving husband of Linda (Kokoszka) Shimko for 20 years.
Frank was born on April 28, 1961 in Norwalk, CT, one of four children, to the late Frank J. and Helen T. (Critcher) Shimko.
He worked as an electrician for many years for both residential and construction companies. Frank loved being outdoors and enjoyed boating, fishing, camping, snowmobiling and working in his yard. He was a true “Mr. Fix It,” not afraid to tackle any project. He even built his own boats and constructed a gorgeous koi pond for his 60 plus fish in his backyard. Frank was an animal lover, doting on his dogs, especially his beloved Susie, and caring for any animal that came through his yard. He was also funny, a practical joker and had a huge heart. He will be deeply missed.
In addition to his wife Linda, Frank is survived by her children: Jessica LaComb (John) of Southington, Jacquelyn Gagnon (Rick) of Bristol, Justin Adams (Marianne) of PA and Jeffrey Kokoszka of CO and 9 grandchildren; Melanie, Morgan and Mackenzie Adams; Dallas, Dillan and John LaComb and David, Lillian and Elaine Gagnon. Frank is also survived by 3 sisters; Virginia Cichowicz of Ansonia, Carol Beerwa and Janet Lazarony (Bob), both of PA and many nieces and nephews. He also had one special cousin Pamela Makszin whom he loved like a sister. He was predeceased by 2 brothers-in-law, John Beerwa and Duane Cichowicz.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Frank’s memory may be made to the Meriden Humane Society, 311 Murdock Ave, Meriden, CT 06450, (https://www.meridenhumanesocietyrescue.com/).
