Florence A. Chubet

Florence A. (Billingham) Chubet, 85, of Southington passed away peacefully at her home on Monday Oct. 22, 2012. She had been the loving wife of Edward Chubet for 61 years.

Born Dec. 12, 1926, in Norwood, MA to the late Arthur and Anna (Spratt) Billingham, she had been a longtime Southington resident.

Florence graduated from the Boston City Hospital, School of Nursing and went on to work as a registered nurse in the maternity ward at Bradley Memorial Hospital. In her later years she worked at Ridgewood Convalescent Home. She volunteered at blood drives for the American Red Cross and was an original member of the Lady Falcon Golf League.

She was always a very active person, enjoying bike riding, swimming at the YMCA, figure skating, and duck pin bowling in a league in Cheshire.

Florence loved to attend her grandchildren's events, going to the movies and was an avid Red Sox and Whalers fan. She always enjoyed a sunset picnic at the beach. Florence will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

In addition to her husband Edward, she is survived by ten children: Michael Chubet; Robert Chubet and his partner Rose Tomasetti; Anne Chubet-Mangiacopra and husband Anthony; Elizabeth Hennessey and husband James; Richard Chubet and wife Kathleen; James Chubet; Thomas Chubet and wife Elizabeth; Joseph Chubet and wife Susan; Katherine Mason and husband Dr. Brian Mason; Christopher Chubet and wife Lucia and her daughter-in-law Lorraine Chubet; 22 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday Oct. 26, 2012 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville.
