Erika (Ruppel) Brayfield, 80, of Southington passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday Dec. 8, 2013. She had been the beloved wife of the late Emil Theodore Brayfield for 54 years.
Born November 24, 1933 in Sierpc, Poland, to the late Edmund and Natalie (Hoff) Ruppel, she had been a longtime Southington resident.
Erika was a longtime member of the First Lutheran Church in Southington and an active member of the Ladies Guild. She enjoyed gardening, baking, ceramics and traveling. She will be remembered for the great love she had for her family and friends.
Erika is survived by three sons and their wives: David and Kathy Brayfield of Southington; Mark and Sharon Brayfield of Ohio; and Gary and Donna Brayfield of Southington; 7 grandchildren: Matthew, Zachary, Kelly, Amanda, Cassondra, Logan and Jordan and 4 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her two sisters, Inge Stoeppel and her husband Robert of Danbury and Ursula Paradis and her husband Ed of Beacon Falls and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one son, Ronald Brayfield and her brother.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday December 12, 2013 at the First Lutheran Church, 232 Bristol St., Southington. Burial will follow in South End Cemetery, Southington.
