Edith Paula Lutkus 87, longtime resident of Marion, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at the LiveWell facility in Plantsville. She was the loving wife of the late John W. Lutkus. She is survived by her four sons, William and Carrie of Marion, David and Janice of Goshen, Douglas and Angela of Lincoln CA, and Gregory and Jennifer (Semmrow) of Middletown along with her grandson, Jack of Lincoln CA.
Paula was born in Waterbury, Connecticut on January 6, 1937 to the late Fiore and Edith (Barone) Massucci.
Paula met John while attending Southington High School where the two quickly became soulmates. They were married 4 years later and were together for the next 65. She cherished her family and her lifelong friendships, always putting her family first, while being a loyal and caring friend.
After graduating High School, Paula went on to achieve her Associate’s Degree at the Teachers College of Connecticut. She began work as a secretary for the Patent Button Co. before moving onto various positions.
An active member of the community, Paula participated in the Junior Woman’s Club, YWCA and at the Election Polls. As a devout parishioner of St. Aloysius Church for many years she participated on the church council and church events.
Paula was a devoted mother to her four sons. Nurturing and supporting their years (and injuries) in; Midget Football, Boy Scouts, Skiing, Flight Instruction, Rock Climbing and Dirt Bike Riding. She encouraged each to pursue their careers in: Engineering, Aviation, Finance and Nursing. She always found the dinner table surrounded by her family on Sunday’s waiting for her legendary pasta sauce to be served.
Paula enjoyed vacationing with her family at the beaches in Rhode Island and the mountains of New Hampshire. Later in life she enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S., then into Canada, Nova Scotia and Panama with John.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at St. Aloysius Church, 254 Burritt St., Plantsville. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, Southington. Please meet directly at church. Calling hours will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S.
