Dorothy M. Libengood

Dorothy M. (Thomas) Libengood, 96, of Southington, CT and formerly of Lower Burrell, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 24, 2024 at Elim Park in Cheshire. She had been the loving wife of the late Norman C. Libengood for nearly 70 years before he predeceased her in 2018. 

Dorothy was born on June 26, 1927 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Carl William and Catherine Mary (Tierney) Thomas. She spent most of her life in Pennsylvania and moved to Southington in 1995.

Dorothy worked as a telephone operator at Western Union. She was a talented musician and loved to play the piano. She was also an avid reader, indulging herself in biographies to the stars. Dorothy was proud of her Irish heritage and loved to travel. She also enjoyed having lunch at any Irish pub. Dorothy’s family was most important to her and she cherished the time spent with her grandchildren. 

She is survived by three children: Sharon Ann Jackson and her husband Garry of Higganum, Robert Thomas Libengood and his wife Nancy of FL, Scott Allen Libengood and his wife Linda of Cheshire; 4 grandchildren, Jonathan Adam Houck and his wife Katie, Michael Libengood, Rachel Libengood and James Libengood and his wife Kelly, 2 great-grandchildren, Sofia and Logan and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by all of her siblings.
