Dorothea E. Dexter

Dorothea E. (McKay) Dexter, 93, of Southington,CT passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at her home. She was the loving wife of the late Walter T. Dexter, Jr. for 44 years.

Dorothea was born on January 14, 1930 in Southington, one of eight children, to the late Lester and Gladys (Parkin) McKay.

Dorothea was a wonderful person. She cared for everyone in her life and was affectionaly known as “Mom” and “Granny” around the her home on the Pine Grove Farm, where she resided for the last 70 years. She also enjoyed canoodling with her dog Daisy and rooting for the Mets.

Dorothea is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Mariaelena Dexter of Southington and her adoring beagle, Daisy. She was predeceased by 4 brothers; William, Raymond, James and Gordon McKay and 3 sisters; Marilyn Brown, Barbara Madison and Marjorie Menard.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, November 3, 2023 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Southington.
