Doris V. (Hartford) Bell, 90, of Marion Avenue, Plantsville, died peacefully on Saturday March 17, 2012 at Southington Care Center. She was the wife of the late Clarence J. Bell for 56 years.
Born in Southington on December 9, 1921 to the late Harold and Annetta (Aspinall) Hartford, she had been a lifelong Southington resident.
Doris served her country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. She retired from Viking Aluminum after 20 years of service and was a longtime member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Doris was an avid UCONN Women's Basketball and Boston Red Sox fan.
Doris is survived by three sons: James Bell and his wife Susan Batten-Bell of Goode, VA, Ron Bell of Southington and Terry Bell of Meriden and a daughter Sandra Rizzo and her husband David Pascall of Southington. She also leaves behind a brother Harold E. Hartford and his wife Vera of Canton, a sister Shirley Goldsmith and her husband Alden of Plainville and seven nieces and nephews; ten grandchildren: Kim Vinson, Chris Bell, Lisa Rizzo, Michael Rizzo, Nicholas Rizzo, Joie-Marie Mazurek, Timothy Bell, Robert Bell, Jeffrey Bell and Ryan Bell and nine great-grandchildren; Nicholas, Nathan and Callia Borkowski; Madelynn Vinson, and Emma and Avery Bell, James and Jake Mazurek and Nathan Bell.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday March 20, 2012 from 4-7p.m. at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. A funeral service will be held at 11a.m. on Thursday March 22, 2012 at the St. Paul`s Episcopal Church, 145 Main St., Southington.
