Donald W. Streeter

Donald Walter Streeter, 64, of Southington, passed away suddenly on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at St. Francis Hospital. He had been the loving husband of Nancy Chute-Streeter for 31 years.

Don was born on March 16, 1957 in Meriden to the late Donald and Dorothy (Eck) Streeter.

Donald was quiet and gentle in his spirit and his VERY dry sense of humor. VERY dry. Think Sahara Desert. He could crack you up with a single comment or leave you hanging on for days until he finally reached the end of one of his stories!

In his younger years, Don loved being a volunteer fire fighter at Southington Company #2 and working for almost 40 years at Pratt and Whitney. He was so proud of his job as an engine machinist and would later share his love of airplanes with his beloved grandson, Jaxson. They bonded over trips to the airports, flying drones, and making planes out of wood and paper!

Don found joy in little things and his health woes only made that appreciation grow stronger. At events and gatherings, he could often be spotted sitting to the side, a cold Miller Lite in his hand, just smiling as his friends and family chatted and laughed. He didn’t say much, but his presence was profound. If you were lucky enough to know Don, you would know that his lust for life and kind temperament made him a friend to many.

Although he struggled for a long time, his death is still shocking to those who love him as he was miraculously able to overcome a staggering amount of medical trauma over the past thirteen years. His fighting spirit was inspiring to everyone around him, and he will be forever missed.

In addition to his wife Nancy, Don is survived by his stepdaughter, Lindsey (Chute) DiPietro and her husband Jonathan and their son Jaxson, all of Farmington; 2 sisters, Sandra Sievers of Berlin and Pamela Graboski of Hudson, OH; a brother-in-law, James D. English of Lakeworth, FL and many nieces and nephews; Jeremiah (Becky), Samantha, Sarah (Chris), Andrew, Dean (Odalis) and Bart and many grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Don also leaves behind many cherished friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Linda English and brother-in-law, David Graboski.

In order to offset Don's medical expenses, donations in his name, may be made to Nancy Chute-Streeter, 975 S. Main St, Plantsville, CT 06479.

A celebration of Don's life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday,  June 11, 2022 at the First Congregational Church, 37 Main St, Southington.
