Dolores A. (Mottola) DeGumbia, 90, of Southington, CT passed away peacefully in the presence of her family on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. She was the loving wife of the late Joseph DeGumbia who predeceased her in 1985.
Dolores was born on December 24, 1933 in Southington to the late Frank and Margaret (Landino) Mottola. She worked for many years at Pratt & Whitney before starting her second career as a bookkeeper at System Aire Supply in Plantsville, a job she loved and kept until she was 85 years old. Dolores was a longtime member of Mary Our Queen Church in Southington. She was very social and enjoyed weekly lunches and playing cards with her wonderful group of friends. Dolores adored her grandchildren who affectionally called her “G.” She will be remembered for her positivity and kindness.
Dolores is survived by two sons, Joseph DeGumbia and wife Anita of Phoenix, AZ and David DeGumbia and wife Dina of Southington, with whom she shared their home, one daughter, Debra Gagne of Naugatuck, and three loving grandchildren, Jared DeGumbia of Santa Monica, CA, Brooke DeGumbia of NYC and Margaux DeGumbia of Phoenix, AZ. She is also survived by her brother, Frank Mottola and wife Joanne of Harwinton and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Joseph, she was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Robert Krystopa.
Calling hours will be held from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday, April 21, 2024 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. A private burial will be held at St. Thomas Cemetery, Southington. For online condolences and directions, please visit www.plantsvillefuneralhome.com.
