Darrell J. LaPoint Sr.

Darrell J. LaPoint, Sr, of Southington, born in Limestone, Maine on March 12, 1935, died on Sunday, December 12, 2021, at the age of 86.

Darrell was predeceased by his wife of 43 years Sandra (Wortman) LaPoint, brothers, Russell, Gilbert and Ralph and sisters, Rita and Lorraine.

Darrell is survived by his four children, Darrell LaPoint, Jr. and his wife Donna of Southington, Thomas LaPoint and his wife Lisa of Berlin, Lori Foley and Shelly Cibula and her husband Mark, both of East Hampton. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, with whom he loved to take fishing, and six great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sisters, Mae Schwartz and her husband Gerald of Florida and Betty Melvin of Maine and many nieces and nephews.

Darrell grew up in the country in Northern Maine and was an avid outdoorsman and gardener. He was an honorable member of the U.S. Army. After serving his country, Darrell moved to Southington where he raised his family. He retired from Bozzuto’s after driving a tractor-trailer for over 30 years. He was a member of the American Legion Kiltonic Post 72 in Southington. Darrell was a proud American who loved UConn Basketball and the Red Sox.
