Darlyn L. (Bower) Waluk, 62, of the Milldale section of Southington died peacefully on Monday May 17, 2010, at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Frank Waluk Sr.. Born in Meriden, CT on September 2, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Alma Bower. She is survived by her 3 sons, 2 daughters-in-law, and 2 grandsons; Frank Jr. and Tracie and son Frank III of Bristol; John of Southington, and Joe and Margaret and son Zander of Newington; her 2 step-daughters, Wendy Ross and Holly Waluk of Venice, Florida and 2 step-grandchildren, Max and Tess, also of Venice, Florida; her brother Albert and wife Carol of Middletown; 2 sisters Francine Lafontaine and husband Richard of Wallingford; and Nancy Golden and husband Doug of Meriden.
She was pre-deceased by her brother Frederick, formerly of Chicago, Illinois and 2 sisters, Agnes Fletcher formerly of Bridgeport and Charlotte Gniewek formerly of Meriden. Darlyn was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was active with Cub Scout Pack II of Milldale School for a number of years as Assistant Cubmaster. She worked at the Wonder Bread Bakery Thrift Store in Meriden for 17 years. To travel with Frank was the adventure of her life. She enjoyed roller coasters. Her greatest love was family. She had a great love for jigsaw puzzles and reading. She never went to bed angry. After 41 years of marriage, 'anything for you Pal,' was a common saying to the one real love of her life, Frank.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 22, 2010 at 10 a.m. at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Southington. Calling hours are Friday, May 21, 2010 from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
