Dana L. Collar Sr., 89, devoted husband and loving father entered eternal life on May 14, 2012 at Southington Care Center surrounded by his family.
He was the loving husband of Jeanne (LeGuennec) Collar to whom he was married for 63 years. He met Jeanne in Paris while he was serving in the US Army in Europe during World War II. They would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary in July. Dana was born on August 5, 1922 in Oakland, ME, son of the late Herbert and Ruby (Bush) Collar, he was one of 7 children. He was employed by Rex Forge, retiring in 1984 after many years of service. He loved his family and gardening.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his son Dana L. Collar Jr. and daughter Rose Loomis; 2 grandchildren Gerald and Michelle, daughter-in-law Rita Collar and son-in-law Mark Loomis. He is also survived by his brother Louis and wife Leatrice of Southington and a sister-in-law in France and by many nieces and nephews both in the United States and France. He was predeceased by his brothers Don, Laurel, and Herbert Jr. and sisters Maggie and Louise.
