Clyde "Butch" Soccodato

In loving memory of Clyde “Butch” Soccodato, 76, of Southington, CT who passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Hartford Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Diana for 55 married years. They were childhood sweethearts since the 9th grade, giving them 60+ years together. A love that endured through the years.

Butch was brought up in the HVAC industry working with his father at a young age and continuing on in the business for many years. At the end of his career, he had the best and happiest job of his life as a maintenance supervisor at Southington YMCA Camp Sloper, a place very dear to his heart.

Butch was a man dedicated to his family. He loved and was fiercely proud of his sons and grandchildren, and his greatest pleasure was being with them. He was the best friend and neighbor anyone could ask for. He was always there for everyone who needed him and would do anything to help anyone. No matter what difficult medical problems challenged him in his last years, if you asked how he was, he always said “terrific.” Upbeat and smiling, he worked hard and enjoyed life. He loved vacationing on Gwynn’s Island, VA, going to Disney World and being with his family and friends. Many years were spent camping with his sons when they were young and then with the grandchildren. Butch had a love of history and read constantly from his collection of over 500 books on WW II. An “old Italian” at heart, he spent lots of time sitting in his garage and reading, welcoming neighbors to come in and chat. He was loved and respected by so many and left a lasting impression on many hearts.

He is survived by his wife, Diana; his sons, Michael of Southington, CT, David (Alison) of East Montpelier, VT; his grandchildren, Justin, Jacoby, Amelia and Ben; his brother Peter (Karen), nieces, nephew and Soccodato cousins of Summit, NJ; and cousins, Sonya and Charlie McLuskey of Berkeley Heights, NJ.
