Chester W. Wernicki

Chester W. Wernicki, 75, died peacefully, surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with Alzheimers on Tuesday November 23, 2010 at The Summit At Plantsville in Southington. He was the beloved husband of Betty (Mlinarcik) Wernicki for nearly 53 years.

Born on August 17, 1935 in Meriden to the late Walter and Monica (Zygmunt) Wernicki, he had been a lifelong Southington resident.

In addition to his wife Betty, he is survived by 4 children: Jerry Wernicki and his fianc' Paula Fontana, Denise Witkoski and her husband Robert, Christine Dammling and her husband Bill, and James Wernicki and his wife Amy, all of Southington; 11 grandchildren: JJ, Jacob and Jimmy Wernicki; Kyle, Ericka and Shane Witkoski; Tyler, Jessica and Haillie Dammling and Margaret and Cohen Wernicki; his sister-in-law Keith Wernicki of Southington and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Henry Wernicki.

Chester served his country for 2 years in the United States Army. He worked at Boyd J. Heights for 10 years and SNET as an auto technician, retiring in 1995 after 25 years. He enjoyed playing golf, dancing and listening to music.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday November 29, 2010 at 9:00 from the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 at Mary Our Queen Church, 249 Savage St., Southington. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Southington. Calling hours will be held on Sunday November 28, 2010 from 5-7pm at the Plantsville Funeral Home.

Main St., Plantsville, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 at Mary Our Queen Church, 249 Savage St., Southington. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Southington. Calling hours will be held on Sunday November 28, 2010 from 5-7pm at the Plantsville Funeral Home.
