Charles W. Oberempt

Charles W. Oberempt, 80, of Southington passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday November 26, 2011 at the HCC at Bradley Memorial. He had been the loving husband of Avis (Gagnon) Oberempt for 54 years.

Born on December 2, 1930 in Southington to the late Arthur and Pearl (Welton) Oberempt, he had been a lifelong Southington resident.

Charles served his country in the Navy during the Korean War. He worked at Southington Savings Bank for 25 years before retiring in 1992. He enjoyed having summer picnics and gatherings with family and friends and will be remembered by those who loved him for his wonderful sense of humor.

In addition to his wife Avis, he is survived by 2 daughters: Cynthia Fiondella and Claudia Mauro and husband Thomas, all of Southington; 2 grandsons: Michael Mauro and David Fiondella Jr.; his sister Shirley Phelps; several nieces and nephews and many special friends. He was predeceased by his brother George Oberempt.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Babiarz and the staff at the HCC at Bradley Memorial for their wonderful care and kindness.

A memorial service for Charles will be held at 12noon on Thursday December 1, 2011 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. Burial will follow in South End Cemetery, Southington. Calling hours will be held from 10-12noon before the service at the funeral home.
