Charles Francis Hart, 83, of Southington, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, June 15, 2024. He is home with his Creator. He was born in Little Falls, NY on July 1, 1940, the 2nd son of the late Joseph and Mary (Krasko) Hart. Charles was a loving husband to his late wife Priscilla for 60 years, a devoted and steadfast father and proud Grandpa.

He is survived by his four daughters, Lynn Hart and loving companion Mark Maccio, Kelly Hart, Kathryn Keen and husband Christopher, Susan Castellano and husband Vincent, and by his beloved grandchildren; Lee, Kayla, Kolton and his wife Tyler, Katerina, Legend, Jennifer, Nathan and his fiancée Lena, James, Stefanie and her husband Rob, and Emma and by his dear great-grandchildren; Leo, Lydia and River. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Dolores, sister-in-law Laura Louise Pacholski and husband Marion, brother-in-law, Donald Jacques and wife Anastasia, sister-in-law Nancy Jacques, friends, cousins and over 60 nieces and nephews whom he loved to make laugh.

In addition to his parents and wife, Charles was predeceased by his brother John, sister-in-law, Marcella Cloutier and husband Romeo, brother-in-law Raymond Jacques and wife Priscilla, sister-in-law Geraldine Roberts and husband James, sister-in-law Joann Roberts and husband Stanley, sister-in-law Mary “Bonnie" Boucher and husband Maurice and two grandchildren, Dane and London.

Charles was a 1958 graduate of St. Mary’s Academy in Little Falls, NY and served in the US Air Force from 1959 to 1963. He was a communicant of St. Luke’s parish and a 60-year resident of Southington. Affectionately known as “Charlie” or “Chuck," he was an incredibly gifted carpenter and woodworking craftsman, building half his home from the ground up. He was an avid reader and self-taught expert in all the trades. He dedicated himself to a life-long pursuit of knowledge in the trades and of history – he stressed the importance of this constant curiosity and learning to his family. Charlie owned and operated Standard Commercial Refrigeration for 30 years, and then was the maintenance caretaker for 17 years at the Holy Family Passionist Retreat Center in West Hartford. Charles dedicated his life to his family, friends, co-workers and neighbors – there was never a time that he was not willing to help and be there with his time, his skill and his good humor. He was a wonderful steward of our beautiful earth, an organic farmer since his youth when he worked on the farm of his grandfather. He and his wife were faithful supporters of numerous children’s charities and faith-based ministries. He will be remembered as the fun uncle and as a gifted joke teller - he loved to make people laugh, and he loved to laugh.

The family would like to thank Franciscan Hospice Care of Meriden, the Sisters, Nurses and staff were a blessing to him and his family. Special thanks to his home health aides that took such wonderful care of him these past months, most especially to Georgina who loved and cared for him as if he were her own father – Thank you and Bless you.
