Carole Kooker Britton, 90, of Plainville/Southington, passed away peacefully at home on April 24, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 25, 1932 in Wildwood, NJ to George and Marie Marshall Kooker. Carole called Southington home since 1956 and was active in many local organizations throughout the years. She is survived by her sons, Robert (Nadine) of Southington, William of Candia, NH and daughter, Carole (late John Heagle) of South Glastonbury. She leaves behind eleven adoring grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren who affectionately referred to her as GiGi, and treasured extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her siblings, Rita Kammer, Coryn Monaghan and Marshall Kooker, as well as her sons, Stephen and Jeffrey.
Carole was artistically gifted and combined her love of crafts with family tradition through personalized crocheted blankets, hand-painted holiday ceramics, fresh batches of homemade strawberry jam each summer and her dad’s family-famous sticky buns every Christmas morning - a recipe her grandchildren are still trying to perfect.
She also loved to travel, cherishing memories of her time in China and Taiwan, as well as her US cross-country roadtrip, and many visits to Disney. Nothing gave her more joy than spending time with family and loved ones, or hearing about the many adventures of her family vacationing together when she wasn’t able to join. Her family was truly the light of her life. She had a beautiful bond with her granddaughter Lindsey, who lovingly shared her home and served as Carole’s caretaker in her later years. A special thank you to Vanessa, her compassionate home health aide, who became part of the family.
In remembrance, please show an act of kindness as that would make her smile. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Southington Bread for Life, PO Box 925 Southington, CT 06489.
