Carol L. Frechette

Carol Louise (Rembish) Frechette, 84, of Southington, CT passed away peacefully on January 13, 2025 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain, CT, surrounded by her loving family. Carol was born in Waterbury, CT to the late Anthony and Helen (Makarewicz) Rembish on December 22, 1940. She was devoted to her late husband, Roland J. Frechette, Jr., for 59 years and together they raised a wonderful family of five children. She leaves behind her son, Michael Frechette and his wife Robin of Longmeadow, MA, daughter Nancy Moise and her husband John, son John Frechette and his wife Bella, son Thomas Frechette and his wife Bonnie, and son James Frechette and his wife Lakshmi, all of Southington, CT. The legacy of 13 beautiful grandchildren, Justin and Natalie Frechette, Jonathan and Jake Moise, Nathan and Matthew Frechette, Maxwell and Lucas Frechette, and James, John, Joseph, Julie, and Jocelyn Frechette filled Carol’s heart with pride and joy. Carol is also survived by her cherished brothers, Robert Rembish and his wife Josephine, and Thomas Rembish and his wife Jane, and much-loved nieces and nephews.

Carol, lovingly called Grammie, created the most warm, nurturing, and loving home where her delicious cooking and scrumptious baking brought the entire family together. Equally remembered will be her after dinner childhood stories and gentle laughter shared around the kitchen table. Carol poured love into everything she did for her family, including hand crafting birthday cards with original poetry and wishes for Stolat. Carol’s summer invites to the Rhode Island beach house also brought the entire family together. Here she was like the shining sun—along with her warmth, blueberry morning pancakes, and meatball sauce at sunset. Carol was entirely selfless, compassionate, nurturing, and showed an ease of patience with everything she tended.

Carol was a gift to all, a beloved wife and mother, queen mother-in-law, adored grandmother, admired sister, cherished friend, and skilled nurse. Graduating in 1961 from St. Mary’s Nursing School in Waterbury CT, Carol spent four years as a St. Mary’s Hospital nurse, before resigning to raise a family. When her children were grown, she served as a nurse for 23 years at New Britain OBGYN where her kindness and nursing expertise supported all of her patients, fellow nurses, doctors, and staff. Alongside her family, she cheered on her favorite Boston sports teams including the Red Sox, Celtics, and Bruins, and was an avid fan of the UConn Huskies Basketball teams. Carol’s best-loved cheering was saved for her grandchildren’s soccer, baseball, hockey, gymnastics, and academics. Yet she was the true champion, the titleholder of absolute love and benevolence.

There is not a moment in time that Carol placed her own needs ahead of others, even beyond her last moments on Earth. Carol lived JOY—Jesus, Others, You. Carol will forever be missed by her family, friends, and all who crossed paths. She was an angel amongst us, now given wings to fly. So, when you see a rainbow above, take a moment to pause and appreciate its beauty. Remember to always seek out the colors in this life, while the love that filled your heart paints you that rainbow in the sky.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at the Hospital of Central Connecticut, 5th Floor, and the hospital clergy for their utmost kindness and dedicated care to Carol’s comfort.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Carol can be made to St. Lucian's Residence, 532 Burritt Street, New Britain, CT 06053.
