Benjamin A. Rodick Sr., 84, of Plantsville, CT passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Cheshire Regional Rehabilitation Center in Cheshire, CT. Born on Dec. 27, 1930 in Bar Harbor, ME, he was the son of the late Alfred and Viola (Staples) Rodick.
After graduating from Bar Harbor High School in 1949, he moved to Connecticut in 1950. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary (Conner) Rodick, who he married in 1952.
Mr. Rodick was employed by Landers Ferry and Clark, New Britain Machine, Pratt & Whitney and New England Aircraft Products, retiring from New England Aircraft. He was a former member of the Loyal Order of Moose, an avid Red Sox fan who enjoyed every game he saw, watching them win the World Series in 2004 and 2006. He enjoyed card games with his co-workers at New England Aircraft.
He greatly enjoyed all family gatherings and time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Benjamin is survived by his son Benjamin A. Rodick Jr. and his daughter Charlotte Welch and her husband James E. Welch of Bennington, VT; his brother, Alfred Rodick Jr. of Avon Park, FL; four sisters: Viva Wilson of Elmira Heights, NY; Frances Gray of Northeast, ME; Mary McFarland of Ellsworth, ME and Jeanette Lanzillo of Lynn, MA; a sister-in-law Florence Conner of Berlin, CT and 29 nieces and nephews.
He also leaves behind his five grandchildren: Gary McCabe and his partner Carla Angelo; Jonathan and Jameson Shaw, all of Terryville, CT; Natasha Shaw of Bristol, CT and Lisa Monroe and her husband David of Bennington, VT and 7 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary, his daughters, Margaret Rodick and Carolyn Shaw, and his sister Ruth Keyes.

A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Monday, July 6, 2015 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. Burial will follow in South End Cemetery, Southington.
