Barbara N. Konopka

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that our beloved, Barbara (Nich) Konopka, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at the age of 84.

Barbara was born in New Britain, CT on April 15, 1940. She earned her master’s degree in education and taught in the Southington school system for many years. 

Barbara loved to dance, spend hours with her friends laughing and sharing stories, and was always immensely proud to share her grandchildren’s accomplishments with anyone who would listen. She was often described as “The Life of the Party” and lit up every room she walked into. She loved history and could always be found with a book by her side. As a devout Catholic, Barbara’s family finds comfort knowing that she is at peace in Heaven with her mother, Mary and her late husband, John. 

Barbara is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Mirando and husband Chris of Southington, Linda Krause of TX and P.J. DeBisschop and husband Jim of Southington and her 4 adored grandchildren, Shannon and Kaleigh Burke, Timothy Cocozza and Chelsea Palzere and her husband Ryan.

Calling hours will be held from 9 – 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Mary Our Queen Church, 248 Savage St., Plantsville. Burial will be held privately at a later date.
