Barbara Fiondella

Barbara (DeFelice) Fiondella, 86, of Southington, CT, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at HOCC at New Britain. She was the beloved wife of the late John “Yogi” F. Fiondella for 63 years.

Barbara was born in West Hartford, CT on June 4, 1938. She attended Southington schools and graduated from Southington High School, Class of 1955. 

Barbara worked as a paraprofessional at South End School in Plantsville for many years. She stayed active in her retirement years and volunteered at the polls. She also attended line dancing classes and especially enjoyed “playing cards with the ladies.” Barbara loved watching UCONN Women’s basketball and the NY Yankees. She also looked forwarding to trips to FL to visit family. 

She is survived by her children, daughter, Lisa Colaninno and her husband Frank of Venice, FL and two sons, Joseph J. Fiondella of Charlotte, NC and Mark Fiondella and his partner Eileen Cochrane of Plainville, four grandchildren, Jonathan Fiondella of Bristol, Frank Colaninno Jr. and his wife Brittany of Middletown, Melissa Fiondella of South Windsor and Mark Fiondella of Kensington and one cherished great-granddaughter, Elliana Grace Colaninno. She is also survived by her brother, Richard DeFelice of FL and her three dearest friends, Marlene Solomon, Anne Lorenzo and Kathy Sokolowski, all of Southington. In addition to her husband John, Barbara was predeceased by her parents, Lawrence and Mary (Manware) DeFelice, daughter-in-law, Wassana Fiondella and sister-in-law, Sharon DeFelice.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 30, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. from the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at St Dominic’s Church, 1050 Flanders Rd., Southington. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, Southington.
