Audrey L. Brown

Audrey L. (Barber) Brown, of Niantic and formerly of S. Plains Rd. in Southington, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, July 11, 2022. She had been the loving wife of the late Merle Brown for 46 years.

Audrey was born in New Britain to the late Charles and Alice (Hyneck) Barber. She worked as the Library Director at the Southington Public Library for many years and also at the Barnes Museum. She was a Past President of the Rotary Club of Southington and served as the Sergeant-at-Arms. Audrey was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Southington, the Juvenile Review Board and the Friendship Quilt Group. Audrey and Merle traveled extensively, visiting Europe, Australia, Tahiti and New Zealand but her favorite trip was the annual family vacation to the Caribbean for the Thanksgiving holiday. Audrey was a voracious reader and enjoyed spending summers at Crescent Beach in Niantic with her family.

Audrey is survived by her daughter Jaye Sepko and husband Peter of Niantic, granddaughter Alissa Brown and her husband David Brown of Salem, her granddaughter-in-law, Aimee Sepko of Providence, RI, 2 great-grandchildren, Owen and Anna and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Merle, Audrey was predeceased by her grandson Colin P. Sepko and her sister, Jacqueline Chesanek.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 15, 2022 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St, Plantsville. Burial will follow in South End Cemetery, Southington.
