Anne T. Cyr

Anne (Tangney) Cyr, 76, passed away peacefully on Saturday May 7, 2011 at the Summit at Plantsville. She had been the loving wife of the late George E. 'Pitou' Cyr for 50 years.

Born on June 18, 1934 in New Haven, CT to the late Robert and Florence (Roche) Tangney, she had been a longtime Southington resident.

Anne worked as a manager at the New Britain Hospital Credit Union for many years. She was a longtime communicant of St. Thomas Church and a volunteer at Bread for Life and many soup kitchens. She enjoyed gardening, baking, reading, camping, fishing and visiting her family in Maine. She loved flowers and going out to lunch and outings with her friends.

Anne is survived by her son Daniel Cyr of Washburn, ME, her grandchildren Gene and Danielle Cyr of Maine, her brother Robert Tangney and his wife Delores of Flag Beach, FL, her brother Kevin Tangney Sr. and his wife Sharon of Meriden, CT and her sister-in-law Irene Tangney of Rocky Hill, CT. As a great-great-great aunt, she also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Rosemary Tangney Grigerek and her brother Donald Tangney.

A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday May 11, 2011 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 10am to 12noon at the funeral home. Burial will be in Maine at the convenience of the family.
