Amelia J. Ryer

Amelia J. (Zygmunt) Ryer, 98, of the Plantsville section of Southington, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at the Summit of Plantsville. She was the loving wife of the late Robert E. Ryer, who predeceased her in 1978.

Amelia was born on November 13, 1926 in Waterbury, CT to the late Antonin and Anna (Parylak) Zygmunt-Mikosz. In her younger years, Amelia was employed by Allied Control in Plantsville. As time went on, she would have a wide range of work experiences, but eventually retired from Kmart in the early 1990s.

Amelia delighted in the company of her family and friends. She also enjoyed music and dancing (especially polkas), trips to the casino, watching classic movies, and spending time with her many pet cats. She will be remembered for her kind-hearted and supportive nature and her love of laughter.

Amelia is survived by her daughter, Tracey DePaolo of Southington and one grandson, Andrew DePaolo and his wife Kaitlyn of West Hartford and one cherished great-grandson, Cameron. She was predeceased by her brother, Mitchell Zygmunt and her son-in-law, Perry DePaolo.

Amelia’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the hospice team at Hartford Healthcare for their compassionate care.

A memorial service will be celebrated at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville.
